Start the Quality Journey Process
When you join SDQPI you will receive resources, educational support and continually improve by learning best practices.
Also, when you join, you:
- Gain access to local and state resources and supports
- Continuously improve the quality of your early learning and care program
- Provide positive outcomes for children and families
The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) and YMCA Childcare Resource Service (YMCA CRS) have teamed up to create a SDQPI Quality Journey to help you integrate key quality practices into your work, in alignment with guidance from the California Department of Education and Quality Counts California .
Quality Journey Supports Include:
No-Cost Quality Journey Orientation [ English ] [ Spanish ]: Learn more about the elements of quality and opportunities to improve in areas that matter most to you and the families you serve.
No-Cost Initial One-on-One Consultation: After you've completed an orientation, receive a personal consultation to help you plan quality improvement next steps that work for you.
Low-Cost Professional Development Workshops: Register for low-cost workshops on all the key elements of quality using the links on this page. Providers who formally join SDQPI, may attend professional development activities at no charge.
No-Cost Individualized Coaching for the Site Leader: As you implement new strategies, an SDQPI coach will come to your program to help you develop or strengthen processes and apply new knowledge. SDQPI coaches also provide longer-term, relationship-based support focused on setting and achieving goals over time, like a sports coach or physical trainer.
Observations & Assessments: Coaches can conduct program observations using official assessment tools to help you identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, and assessors provide official assessments using the Environment Rating Scales (ERS), Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and more.
